SUMMARY:Sunrise Shavuot Gathering 5786
DESCRIPTION:Date: Friday\, May 22\, 2026Time: Arrive by 6:45 AM Location: Albany Bulb (exact spot emailed after registration) \nJoin Beyt Tikkun for a spiritually grounding Shavuot gathering as we welcome the sunrise together at Albany Bulb. Surrounded by nature and community\, we’ll mark this sacred time with prayer\, reflection\, and connection. \nWe arrive at Shavuot carrying all that is broken in the world—the violence\, the fear\, the grief. In Jewish tradition\, revelation comes not only in moments of joy but also in times of challenge. Together\, in this sunrise space\, we open our hearts to the wisdom and guidance the Torah offers for this moment\, asking how we might act with courage\, compassion\, and justice. \nShavuot commemorates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai—a moment of profound spiritual awakening. This sunrise gathering invites us to attune ourselves to that ongoing revelation\, past and present\, and to receive the teachings our hearts and our world most need. \n🕊️ What to Expect• Opening prayers to create sacred space• Guided meditation led by Rabbi Cat Zavis to help us open our hearts to the Torah we need in this moment• Community connection with light breakfast provided (feel free to bring snacks or drinks) \n🌿 What to Bring• Blanket or cushion (optional)• Warm layers• Food or drink to share (optional) \n♿ AccessibilityWheelchair accessibleOutdoor seating on stone benches without backsMasks optional \n🤲🏼 Take Action Given the ongoing genocide and starvation in Gaza\, we are also using this moment to mobilize and join the Jews for Food Aid for People in Gaza campaign. 👉 You can sign-on in support of this campaign here. http://foodaidforgaza.org/ \nThe goals of this campaign are to:• Show solidarity to Palestinians starving in Gaza• Embody liberatory Jewish values• Demonstrate MASS Jewish support for Israel to end its food aid blockade through a simple message that will appeal to the most people. Week 1 goal: 18\,000 signers• Mobilize tens of thousands of Jews to engage with the acute crisis in Gaza ahead of Israel moving forward their plans for mass expulsion and ethnic cleansing. \n❓Questions Contact Marissa at marissa@beyttikkun.org
