SUMMARY:Liberation Seder: We Get There Together (HYBRID - Online & In-Person in Oakland)
DESCRIPTION:Date: Saturday\, April 4thTime: 4pm PT / 7pm ET  (We will begin the online portion at 4:30pm PDT / 7:30pm EDT)HYBRID location: Online and In-person at First Unitarian Church of Oakland\, 685 14th St\, Oakland\, CA 94612**There will be a satellite San Diego seder\, where community will gather in person and stream our virtual seder. We gather not simply to remember\, but to confront the forces shaping our world and to cultivate the resilience\, courage\, and imagination required to transform it. \nFood: In addition to the traditional ritual foods for the seder\, we will also provide a delicious Sephardic-inspired catered vegetarian dinner\, with gluten-free and nut-free options available. \nSeder & Dinner Cost:In-Person: $80 Beyt Tikkun members // $95 non-members // $36 student // $50 volunteerOn Zoom: $18 Beyt Tikkun members // $36 non-membersA limited number of free and low cost tickets are available – please email rabbi@beyttikun.org to reserve one of these. \nEvent Description:We are excited to invite you to join Rabbi Cat Zavis\, Musical Director Ami Goodman\, and the Beyt Tikkun Community for Our Liberation Seder. \nPassover calls us to remember that we were slaves — not as metaphor\, but as moral foundation. Our Seder invites us to enter that story deeply and honestly\, so that memory becomes responsibility. \nTogether\, we will draw connections between liberation struggles past and present: \n\nWhat does it mean to honor the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in this moment of ongoing genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and East Jerusalem? \nWhat actions can we take to prohibit the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from kidnapping\, detaining\, and separating families? \nHow can we challenge the systems and structures—patriarchy\, capitalism\, imperialism\, and zionism—that perpetuate oppression and block the path toward collective liberation?\n\nOpen to Jews and beloved community of all backgrounds\, this is a Seder that is joyful and defiant\, politically progressive\, environmentally conscious\, and spiritually alive. We gather not only to recall the Exodus\, but to renew our sacred obligation to stand with all who seek freedom. May this night strengthen our spirits\, deepen our solidarity\, and send us back into the world ready to build the liberation we pray for. \n\n“It is the first Seder I attended where I feel the true spirit of Passover – liberation of all peoples (and you added in care for the planet also). In the past I had to stop myself from saying ‘Liberation for everyone except for Palestinians’. So thank you for a thoroughly liberating\, uplifting event\, with incredible food and music. You are who I want to spend Passover with 🙂” – AC \n\nWe will be both in person and on Zoom so those of you who cannot join us in person can still participate in a meaningful way. We encourage you to invite friends and family to join you at our seder\, whether you participate in person or on Zoom.  \nAccessibility: \n\nMasks optional\nWheelchair accessible\nPlease avoid scented products\n\n \nPHOTOGRAPHY RELEASE By attending this event\, you consent that recordings or photos of you may be used by Beyt Tikkun. If you do not want to be photographed\, please let us know at the event and we will be sure not to include you. If you have any questions\, please contact rabbi@beyttikkun.org \n \n \nSan Diego Satellite Seder:Rabbi Alexis Pearce and UU minister Sarah Gibb Millspaugh are hosting an in-person Liberation Seder at First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego (Hillcrest). The food and fellowship will be live\, and we’ll be linked online with Beyt Tikkun’s in-person celebration in Oakland. To join and receive 50% off online ticket prices\, email rabbi@beyttikkun.org to receive a promo code. \nREGISTRATION BELOW –  Please select ONLINE or IN-PERSON tickets ** If you are able to donate more\, we’d be most grateful. Our costs (the venue\, food\, staff\, etc.) exceed the fees we are charging for the Seder. We are also using this Seder as a fundraiser to help cover our expenses for the remainder of the year before the High Holidays. If you can contribute double or triple the amount above\, we’d be most grateful. Any donations above the amounts listed are tax deductible.**
